Luxury Tuscany Tour
Discover the heart of Maremma Toscana region as local in a luxury tuscany tour. Departures-Guarantee with a minimum of 2 guests
Depart from Grosseto to enjoy a luxury 3-day tour of Tuscany. Enjoy yourself in the culture and countryside of one of Italy’s most ancient and beautiful regions. You will visit the wild and unique Maremma, famed for its geographic diversity because the contrast of blue sea against black rock. Golden beaches and deep green forests. Stretches of marshland and soaring hills. Saltwater and the natural springs which give the region its famed thermal baths. Taste the Montecucco wines from which the Brunello di Montalcino originate, and savour characteristic Marammese dishes. You’ll be spoilt for choice at this Luxury tour which will be your home from home in the Tuscan countryside.
Day 1: Pick up & Explore Maremma with the local
You will be on the fast train from Rome to Grosseto by nine in the morning. (Don’t worry: we’ll make sure you have your tickets and all the information you need to make the most of your trip). On your arrival in Maremma’s biggest town, you’ll be met by our local experts who will drive you to a trattoria to fortify yourselves for the afternoon on tortelli Maremmani pasta. Homemade, of course. So, after lunch, you’re invited to taste the Montecucco DOCG wines of a local family-run vineyard. And then you’ll head towards the luxury Relais we’ve booked for your rest and relaxation.
Day 2: Montepulciano Pienza Montalcino
Today, you’ll visit some of the best-known villages in beautiful Tuscany. After breakfast, you’re off to the medieval hill town of Montepulciano, with breathtaking views over the Tuscan plains and more wine tasting. This time of the local speciality: the classic red vino nobile di Montepulciano.
Our next stop is Pienza, another hill town. Before heading for home, we’ll call in on our third hill town and the last of today’s vineyard hosts, producers of the delicious Brunello di Montalcino.
Day 3: Pitigliano Sorano Sovana
This morning is dedicated to the Etruscan heritage of the area because we will visit towns which have been lived in since as far back as 900 B.C., Sorano, Sovana, and Pitigliano. Wander these ancient dwelling places and marvel at the channels Pitigliano’s first inhabitants dug into the red tufa. Then we’ll leave the Etruscans behind and head for a warm (37.5°C), sulphurous bathe in the springs of Saturnia, gazing out at the landscape which unfolds all around us, from Mount Amiata to the Albenga and Fiora hills.
Day 4: Luxury Spa in Bagno Vignoni & Drop Off
Finally, we’ll visit Bagno Vignoni. Renowned among Italians as one of their country’s best spas (and the Italians know a thing or two about spas). Again, we’re dipping our toes in history - these waters were visited by Roman travellers striking out along the Via Francigena which connected Rome to far-off France. We will also have a look at the large tank built in the 16th century to hold the waters which bubbled up from beneath the town. Several spa packages are available at the Terme di Saturnia for an extra price. We recommend the packages described below, but further information is available from our guides about all the possibilities.
Spa Package
